“Red and yellow, black and white, we are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.” This was a children’s song that we would sing in my church as I was growing up. This song shared that we are all the body of Christ. It doesn’t matter the hue of our skin or the language that we speak or the country of our birth. He LOVES ALL OF US, equally!! Why do we struggle with that? I have an idea on that and I’ll tell you why.
There are those with hate and malice in their hearts and on their tongues. They speak and hateful things come out of their mouths about other races or those who think and live differently than we do. The malice of their heart comes not from a love of our God and His Son our Savior, Jesus, but from the devil and from the world that wants us to hate each other. There is no place for that here on Earth. It is time that we understand that and see it for what it is, a way to try and keep us from our Lord and Savior.
Our Father in Heaven loves justice against those who do wrong and, yes, those that do evil must be held accountable here with the hope that they will turn away from their sin and turn towards Him. It is the loving thing to do to hold others accountable for what they do on this Earth. We can still love them and know that they need to be changed from where they are functioning. The doctor treats the diseases that are hurting us while doing everything possible to save our body. Our Savior is doing the same thing to us when we become a part of the Body of Christ. We come with a changed heart that needs and wants to be washed clean in the Blood of His sacrifice. When we accept Him in our hearts, He then takes away the stain that keeps us away from Him in this life and after our time on Earth is done.
Our Father in Heaven knows what is in our hearts. There is nothing that we can hide from Him that He does not see. Everything that is in the dark never stays hidden and will eventually see the light for the whole world to see. With that in mind, make sure that your words and heart and thoughts and mind about others all align towards our God. He really wants us to be a part of His Body and doing good works for Him so that others may come to know and love Him as we do.
What did I learn from this? I have a choice to make each and every day. I can choose to hate others for what they are doing or I can choose to pray for them and hope that they see what they need to change before that choice is no longer theirs to make. Knowing that I belong to the Body of Christ, then it helps me to have that daily reminder that the choice to pray as hard as I can for others is what our God would want me to do. It is a daily battle but He helps me when I choose to focus on the love that He gives to me despite my own failings. How can I do anything less for His other hurting children?
So, what can you gain from this? Examine your heart. If there is any hate in it for anyone, then know that you are letting the devil in and by letting him in, you are keeping God out. Doing that will keep you from being or becoming a part of His Body with that hate and malice towards anyone. It doesn’t mean that you cannot dislike a person’s actions but when you have hate for that person or for a group of people because of what race they are or where they live or even what they do differently, then you need some help. It’s not a healthy way to live your life and, in fact, it can make your body sick because of the stress that hate can bring. Don’t let the devil win and, instead, choose to accept and love others the same way that our God loves you.
